The Big Break, a GOLF Channel reality series that debuted in 2003, ran for 23 seasons and gave aspiring professional golfers the opportunity to earn exemptions into competitive events and tours. Throughout my 21-year career at GOLF Channel, I played a key creative role in the series, contributing across all phases of production—from pre-production and on-site execution to post-production.
My involvement began with establishing the branding and color schemes that gave each season its own unique identity. I also managed contestant wardrobe coordination, communicating guidelines and requesting specific looks to support creative scenarios. Prior to filming, I collaborated with GOLF Channel’s promotional teams to concept and present creative materials for marketing approval. On location, I contracted and directed still photographers for both editorial and commercial shoots, while also supporting production teams with site surveys and creative development for the show’s title sequences.
Once filming began, I organized and edited all still photography, ensuring timely distribution to internal teams including Marketing, PR, Show Producers, and Creative. These assets were essential for promotional campaigns and show production throughout the series’ run.
Below are examples of the creative process from select seasons:
